Saul Abrahams’ OSCAR® Qualifying short ENJOY starring Emmy Nominee Himesh Patel tackles masculine stereotypes and male mental health

The film stars Emmy-nominated actor and writer Himesh Patel (Tenet, Don’t Look Up), alongside Maddy Hill (EastEnders), Jonathan Aris (Sherlock, End of the F*****g World) and Sara Stewart (Batman Begins, Empire of Light).

Director, Saul Abrahams’ ENJOY is an offbeat and bittersweet exploration of men’s and boys’ mental health which explores how societal stereotypes surrounding depression in men manifest themselves across different generations. This timely short has qualified to be considered for the 95th Academy® awards.

Director Saul Abraham is a director and producer who works across drama, documentaries, and commercials. His last film BREAKING starring Antonia Thomas and Martin McCann screened at London Short Film Festival and received a Special Jury Mention at Promofest. His documentary, MOSES: STRONGMAN, was one of the most watched pieces from Idris Elba’s BBC iPlayer takeover, leading him to be included in the BBC New Talent Hotlis. Saul co-runs Saul & Josh Studio in London.

Producers Nick Rowell & Gabriele Lo Giudice founded Pinzutu Films; their production company which aims to produce bold and daring stories. Their first short film VERT starred Nick Frost and Nikki Amuka-Bird and won a Special Jury Prize at SXSW. This is the second short film by Pinzutu Films. More recently they have produced STRUCK in association with Hulu and 20th Century Fox.

The film is based on writer Callum Cameron’s real experience as a private tutor and his own experience with his mental health and how the feelings he was experiencing collided with some of the children he was tutoring. He was inspired to look at the teacher and pupil dynamic as a vehicle to explore those themes on mental health across different generations of males

The stunning cinematography was created by Tasha Back whose recent credits include the Turner Prize Award-winning film THE DESTRUCTOR’S and BAFTA Cymru-winning TV Drama and Channel 4’s ADULTING. ENJOY premiered at Tribeca, went on to screen at Palm Springs ShortFest and won the BIFA for Best British Short Film. This timely film has qualified to be considered for the Oscars®.
