Director Lloyd Lee Choi’s SAME OLD is the story of a Chinese delivery driver in New York City who discovers his e-bike has been stolen, and must come to terms with the fragility of the life he’s built in America. This timely short has qualified to be considered for the 95^th Academy® Awards. 

One night, his bicycle, and in essence his livelihood, are stolen from him. He’s forced to embark on a desperate journey to reclaim his bike or shatter the fragile life in America he’s built

SAME OLD was an official selection at the 75^th Cannes Film Festival as part of the Palme d’Or competition, the only US film to be accepted in the line-up of nine films. Right after Cannes, SAME OLD has screened at Toronto International Film Festival (Special Jury Mention), New York Film Festival, Melbourne International Film Festival, and Seminci. The film also won 1st place at the 2022 HBO max APA Visionaries Awards. 

Korean-Canadian director and writer Lloyd Lee Choi, who recently signed on with WME for representation, is currently developing a feature film based on SAME OLD. He was also named 30 under 30 by Marketing Mag for his directing work in the advertising space. His most recent film, CLOSING DYNASTY, was supported and funded through the Future Gold Film Fellowship, being 1 of just 3 filmmakers selected by Netflix, Tribeca Studios, and Gold House. 

SAME OLD was co-produced by Tony Yang, who has helped produce three feature films and over thirty short films, which have screened at numerous festivals, including the Palm Springs International Shortfest, Toronto International Film Festival, New York Film Festival, and more. In addition to his independent film-producing work, he has worked at several production companies including The Population (founded by Mollye Asher, Derek Nguyen, & Mynette Louie).
