Tiffany Kontoyiannis-Guillen’s short film Welcome Back sheds light on the current democratic crisis in Venezuela. This topical short which has screened at over 10 film festivals was a 2020 HBO Semi-Finalist, it received the 2020 Gold Remi Award at The WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival and was part of the 2020 American Pavilion Emerging Filmmakers Showcase. Welcome Back will be screening online for LA Shorts in October.

After being deported to Venezuela, one of the most dangerous countries in the world, Rosa and her daughter must find a way to escape to Colombia.

Director/Writer/Producer Tiffany Kontoyiannis-Guillen is a published playwright, Student Emmy Nominated Director, HBO Semi-Finalist, Miami Herald Silver Knight Winner and has been recognized for her work in film. Tiffany is also known for her anti-bullying work and organization. She has appeared on MSNBC, NBC, TV Venezuela, and CBS to speak about her anti-bullying and how the visual arts can be used to create change. Tiffany began creating films that brought inspiring, engaging, and important topics to light. Alongside Roy Arwas, her most recent projects have been devoted to telling Latinx, female, and unique stories in hopes of further diversifying the industry.

Producer Roy Arwas is a student Emmy nominee who produced, wrote, directed, and edited his short film Clarity which stars Chris Browning and Brett Zimmerman. Alongside Tiffany, Roy co-founded Creative X. Entertainment, a production company based in Los Angeles. He is also a First Assistant Director for music videos for artists such as Wiz Khalifa, Ty Dolla Sign, and Timbaland and is creating content and developing TV shows and feature films for socially relevant and important stories.

Welcome Back will be screening at LA Shorts International Film Festival on October 8th.
