Yves Piat’s Award-winning comedy Nefta Football Club

Yves Piat’s live-action short film stars Lyes Salem (Munich) and won a series of Audience Awards, including the Best Comedy award at Aspen Shortsfest. This wonderful film shares the story of two boys who stumble on something unusual which creates unexpected events.

In the south of Tunisia, two football fan brothers bump into a donkey lost in the middle of the desert on the border of Algeria. Strangely, the animal wears headphones over its ears.

Yves Piat discovered the world of cinema through his technician work as a decorator and studio manager on set for the production Fouillet Wieber. His first film Tempus Fugit, starring Maurice Garrel was selected in Odense, Interfilm and Drama.

Producer Damien Megherbi and Justin Pechberty created their production company Les Valseurs in 2013, in 2018 their animated film Wicked Girl was the first animation to win the Grand Prix at Clermont-Ferrand, before winning the César. They have produced twenty short films, including QIU Yang’s She Runs (Leitz Discovery award at International Critic’s Week, Cannes 2019), Nara Normande’s Guaxuma and Yves Piat’s Nefta Football Club (Audience Award & Best Comedy at Aspen Shortsfest, Audience Award at Clermont-Ferrand and Florida Film Festival). Their first live-action feature, Fendas, directed by Carlos Segundo will premiere at FIDMarseille in July 2019. The films DOP Valentin Vignet is a graduate of the AFI and worked on Agnes Varda’s Faces Places.
