After overcoming recent adversities, Gemma Oaten famed for her role as Rachel Breckle on Emmerdale, has suffered a major setback by getting dumped at the alter by a mystery man this month.
The small ceremony took place in a charming, antiquated church, and was part of a music video for the upcoming artist, John Galea’s new single ‘When you truly love someone’.
The music video sees Gemma bring her unparalleled presence to the screen, emulating the raw emotion of the power balled, all the while radiating an air of elegance; making the video a must see.
‘When you truly love someone’ is taken from John Galea’s upcoming EP ‘Missing Pages’, with the single set for release on November 25th. The award-winning artist described the song as a poignant narrative to his personal struggle with the world of dating.
When You Truly Love Someone will be available on iTunes, Amazon, Spotify, Apple Music and Tidal, from November 25th.
What has been the biggest achievement in your music career and what would you still like to achieve?Supporting Mcfly on your tour was amazing but for me it’s winning the National songwriting award when I was 19 it kicked started me realising I could do this full time and make a living out of it. I would love to make a full album one day with a major label , at the moment I’m unsigned and as amazing as that is , it’s a tough industry that is very geared up to helping major artists more than unsigned which I think is a shame. Who knows what the future holds.Did you have fun working with Gemma Oaten? That girl is amazing, it was pretty cold on set and she was so good about it, all day we just had massive laugh – it’s so good to work with someone as talented as her as well as down to earth. She was brilliant. What are you looking for in a potential partner?Honesty is a big thing, and being there for each other no matter what.
Who inspired you to start a music career?Originally Mariah Carey vocally I saw her sing at the age of 8 and fell in love with her voice and then started learning classical piano and songwriting and learnt from people like Diane Warren, Max Martin & The BeeGees how to construct a song. What advice would you give to someone that is going through a break-up?Everything happens for a reason we just don’t know why it happens when it does. Heartbreak doesn’t last forever.
Who is your biggest idol?I don’t tend to have idols but there we are certainly musicians and singers who I have huge respect for including the unsigned ones, it’s a tough business and you have to made of strong stuff in the music industry.
How would you feel if someone left you at the alter? It wouldn’t a good feeling, I probably be asking a lot of questions but in the end if something isn’t meant to be it isn’t meant to be.
Do past relationships have a influence on your music?Absolutely! Everything I write is based on my life and the love songs certainly are. One of most emotional , ‘ammunition’ from my 2nd EP ‘Under Attack’ is probably one my favs cause it’s about one of my most hardest relationships I’ve been in.Who is your celebrity crush? There’s too many to name both guys and girls.
Being honest, showing your feelings in whatever way you do and spicing things up. No one wants to be in relationship that stale.
