James King releases his anticipated single ‘Neverland’, which he performed at the Sundown Music Festival. It’s time to get to know the upcoming singer/songwriter a bit better!
You write all of your own music; where do you draw inspiration from when you write songs and what’s your favorite part about the process?
Inspiration is a weird one when writing, it can be elusive, it can be misleading but the weirdest part is that it can hit you at anytime and in the strangest of places. I love seeing the songs coming together in the studio, adding and trying new parts and sometimes things that seem like they will never work, working and making the song come into it’s own.
Did someone in particular inspire you in writing your new album ‘Lost-Bewildered’?
To be honest with you, people in general interest me. We are all very strange creatures, all the same yet so different. These differences make us think a certain way and go about tasks differently and this was the main inspiration for most of my songs to date.
What can we expect from your new EP?
I now have a live band now and they make for such a larger sound. Expect bigger choruses, anthemic sounds and a raw feel. The recording process has been so much fun and it’s always nice to be around like-minded people who get the project and your ideas.
Who inspires you?
People and their differences in outlooks on life inspire me. I find it interesting to watch people and their movements, but also hear what they think about subjective matters.
It’s been going very well for you, what else can we expect from you in the near future?
You can definitely expect my new EP and also 2 new singles (Goodlife & Driftwood). You can possibly expect a music video and a small UK tour if things move in the right way.
