Director Phil Sheerin always had a love for film, but followed the traditional route and became an engineer.  Luckily for film lovers everywhere Phil became a director and his debut film North is making huge waves in the film world.  Not only was this emotional film nominated for a Student Academy Award and 3 Royal Television Society Awards, it won best UK short at Raindance Film Festival and the Best Dramatic Short at Galway film Fleadh (an Academy qualifying festival).

Isolated on a farm and fighting against his family, Aaron struggles to be heard as he watched his mother willingly die.

North stars Barry Keoghan (Trespass Against Us, alongside Michael Fassbender and ‘71) as Aaron, Emer McCourt (Ken Loach’s Riff-Raff) as Mary, Janie Booth (General Hospital) as Grace, Des McAleer (Hunger) as Richard and was produced by Jacob Thomas. The talented director Phil Sheerin shot North whilst studying for his Masters Degree in directing fiction at the National Film and Television School, which is ranked number one in the world by the Hollywood Reporter.

The heartfelt film has received an abundance of accolades including Winner of Best Dramatic Short at Galway Film Feadh, a Student Academy Award Nomination, best UK short at Raindance Film Festival, 3 nominations for the Royal Television Society Awards, a nomination for a Learning on Screen Award, a Nomination for Best UK Film at Raindance Film Festival and selection for Cambridge Film Festival, Rhode Island Film Festival, Camerimage International Film Festival and Dinard Film Festival.

With so many awards, North is still touching the hearts of many and will no doubt win many more prizes along the way.
