Yuchao Feng’s Pearl has only just begun its festival run and has already been selected for five high profile film festivals around the world. Pearl is based on a true story of a mother who is forced to choose to abandon either her son or daughter.

In a desolate Chinese fishing village, a poor single mother feels forced to abandon one of her children for life.

Director Yuchao Feng is inspired to integrate his eastern aesthetics with western storytelling via his work. He was awarded the Best Cinematography Award at The 2016 ShortPole London International Film Festival and is currently in production on his second feature as the Director of Cinematography.

Producer Yifei He is a thesis student at NYU Tisch’s Grad Film program. She has written and directed four short films, her most recent short film A Farewell screened at numerous festivals including Palm Spring International ShortFest and Nashville Film Festival.

Producer Linhan Zhang was a film and television undergraduate at NYU Tisch School of the Arts. Linhan is the co-founder of New York based development/finance company, Bering Pictures, which specializes in producing for short films and documentaries. His projects have been official selections at more than forty Academy Award qualifying film festivals and have been distributed online at HBO, New York Times Op-Docs, and more.

Producer Clifford Miu is a Film & TV graduate of NYU Tisch School of the Arts. He worked in the AD department on a large number of films including Martin Scorsese’s Silence and Gary Ross’ Ocean’s Eight. He co-founded Bering Pictures Inc. His projects have screened as official selections at more than forty Academy Award qualifying film festivals and are currently distributed online via esteemed streaming platforms including HBO GO, The Atlantic and New York Times Op-Docs.

Pearl has been selected for Leeds International Film Festival, Vancouver International Film Festival, Edmonton International Film Festival, Melbourne International Film Festival and Short Shorts Film Festival in Japan. This important film was nominated for Best Short of the Festival at Raindance Film Festival and received a Special Jury Mention at Tribeca Film Festival.
