Laura Plancarte’s Tierra Caliente shares the story of a Mexican family whose lives are torn apart by the Narco drug Cartels and the screenplay is a transcript of real conversations from the family. In a short time this factual story has been selected for Guadalajara International Film Festival and been nominated for best Mexican film, now it will premiere in the UK at Raindance Film Festival.

This true story follows the story of a family from the state of Guerrero, Mexico. As they about their normal lives, they are caught in the crossfire between the Narco and the military. The film portrays how one hundred taxi drivers go on search to find the missing husband of one of the daughters, who was kidnapped by the Narco, and how the tragedy affects her and the rest of her family.

The screenplay is a transcript of conversations of the family recorded over a period of two years. Actors play the members of the family to protect their identity, but we are able to hear the actual recordings throughout the film, reminding the audience that these people are real.

Tierra Caliente is writer/director Laura Plancarte’s first feature, although she is no stranger to film, with many short films under her belt including Insomnia, Melon and Watermelon, Bipolar and Duality to Unity. The film stars Anais Alvarado, Dimitri Andreas, Claudia Coulter, Luciano Dodero and was shot in the UK, as well as Mexico.
